Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Momoh Kamara, Sierra Leone’s rising football star, has been shortlisted for the 2025 CAF Young Player of the Year award, marking a significant milestone for both his career and Sierra Leonean football.
The 20-year-old forward gained global attention with his outstanding performance in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he won the Golden Boot following a series of remarkable displays.
His most memorable moment came during a group-stage match against Egypt, when he scored a stunning hat-trick that helped Sierra Leone advance in the tournament. Kamara’s consistent impact on the field earned him two Man of the Match honors, cementing his reputation as one of Africa’s most promising young talents.
Kamara’s goal-scoring feats not only brought him individual accolades but also etched his name into Sierra Leone football history. He became the first Sierra Leonean player to finish as top scorer in a major CAF tournament, a historic achievement for the country.
If he wins the award, he will also become the first Sierra Leonean recipient of the CAF Young Player of the Year. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to announce the winner at its annual awards ceremony later this year.
