Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The management of Sky Bank (SL) Limited has strongly refuted claims made in a viral social media video alleging that bank staff underpaid a Chinese customer, labeling the footage a “deliberate and malicious” attempt to damage the institution’s reputation.
In a public notice, the bank categorically denied that the incident depicted in the video took place at any of its nationwide branches.
Following the rapid circulation of the video, Sky Bank’s management stated they immediately launched a comprehensive internal review to ascertain the facts. According to the bank, the investigation yielded the following results:
No Formal Complaints: No customer, including the individual shown in the video, has lodged any official complaint regarding underpayment at the bank.
CCTV Verification: A thorough review of security camera footage across all branches found no record or evidence of the alleged incident occurring on their premises.
Bank officials condemned the video as a targeted smear campaign designed to tarnish the institution’s record of integrity, professionalism, and transparency—core values it says it has strictly upheld over its 18 years of operation in Sierra Leone.
Sky Bank concluded the notice by reassuring its customers and the general public of its steadfast commitment to maintaining the highest standards of banking service and operational integrity nationwide.
