Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Reports have emerged alleging that motorbikes purchased through a FIFA-funded initiative aimed at enhancing the operations of regional and district football associations in Sierra Leone are currently unused and deteriorating in open spaces.
According to Journalist Hawa Dauda, the motorbikes, which arrived in the country around mid-2024, were intended to improve mobility and administrative efficiency for local Football Associations (FAs).
Nearly a year later, those vehicles remain parked and exposed to the elements, gathering rust instead of fulfilling their purpose of aiding grassroots football development.
The situation has raised serious concerns regarding the management of resources allocated for football development in the country.
Observers have pointed out that the oversight not only represents a waste of valuable assets but also reflects broader issues of mismanagement within the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and the FIFA project.
Observers have called for both FIFA and the SLFA to provide explanations and, more importantly, to implement effective solutions to ensure that these resources are utilized as intended.
