Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has successfully completed the Confederation of African Football (CAF) D Diploma Coaching Course nationwide, marking another step in its efforts to strengthen grassroots football development through structured coach education.

According to the SLFA, the course was conducted across the country’s five administrative regions and followed the CAF Coaching Education Framework, combining both theoretical instruction and practical assessments. The programme was designed to equip entry-level coaches with essential knowledge in modern coaching methods, player safety, session planning, and basic tactical principles.

Participants underwent on-field practical evaluations as well as a final written examination, in line with CAF requirements. The SLFA stated that the assessments ensured coaches met the minimum standards expected at the introductory level of CAF’s coaching pathway.

Technical delivery of the course was handled by four CAF-accredited coach educators from the Liberia Football Association: Kesselee King Kanneh, Roberts N. Lartey, James Salinsa Debbah, and Sergeant Alhajee Omar Konneh. The SLFA Technical Director, John Keister, supervised the programme throughout its duration to ensure full compliance with CAF coaching education standards.

The SLFA noted that the conclusion of the course was attended by its President, Mr. Babadi Kamara, who commended the participants for their dedication and commitment. He reaffirmed the association’s position that coach education remains a key pillar in the long-term and sustainable development of football in Sierra Leone.

The association described the CAF D Diploma as a critical entry point into the national coaching structure and emphasized its continued commitment to expanding access to certified coaching education across the country.

The SLFA added that initiatives such as the CAF D Diploma Coaching Course are central to its broader strategy of improving coaching quality at the grassroots level and building a strong foundation for football development nationwide.
