Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has departed Freetown for his first official international engagement since taking office. Kamara, alongside Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh, will participate in the CAF IMPACT Strategic Roundtable Programme scheduled for Sunday, 24 August 2025, in Kampala, Uganda.

The roundtable aims to advance the implementation of CAF’s IMPACT initiative, which seeks to enhance governance, develop football infrastructure, and improve the utilisation of CAF development funds among Africa’s 54 Member Associations. Bawoh is expected to return to Sierra Leone immediately following the Kampala event, while Kamara will remain for additional commitments.

Kamara’s itinerary includes attending the Semi-Finals and Third Place playoff matches of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) in Uganda. He will then proceed to Nairobi, Kenya, for a high-level meeting with CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and other African football association leaders on Saturday, 30 August 2025. The meeting will coincide with the CHAN final and will focus on issues such as:

Financial sustainability for CAF Member Associations and Zonal Unions

Development and upgrading of football infrastructure across Africa

Strategies to make African football more competitive at the global level

Kamara’s participation in these events marks a significant moment for Sierra Leone’s football administration, providing an opportunity to strengthen relationships within CAF, explore avenues for infrastructure development, and engage in discussions shaping the future of African football.
