SLFA Selects Players for U-17 Team Trials WAFU

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially announced the players selected for the U17 National Team trials as preparations intensify for the WAFU U17 Qualifiers scheduled for October 2025.

The selection is part of the FA Talent Identification and Development Pathway, designed to cultivate young football talent across Sierra Leone.

The players were scouted by SLFA Talent Identification Officers during the ongoing Inaugural Talent Development Scheme (TDS) League, which features both U15 and U18 categories. Their outstanding performances notably earned them a chance to compete for a spot on the national team.

The U17 National Team Trials will begin on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., at the SLFA Football Academy in Freetown. All selected players have been invited to attend the event.

In addition to the trials in Freetown, the SLFA plans to conduct a Talent Identification Tour across other regions to discover more promising players. The initiative is poised to ensure that talented youth from all areas of Sierra Leone are considered for the national team.

The TDS League, currently in its pilot phase, is set to expand to all five regions of Sierra Leone in the upcoming season. The expansion notably reflects the SLFA’s commitment to enhancing grassroots football development nationwide.

The SLFA has affirmed its commitment to nurturing those young athletes, who represent the future of Sierra Leonean football, and is focused on supporting their journey toward success on the international stage.

As followed is the list of the selected players placed in four different categories: Goalkeepers, Defenders, Midfielders, and Forwards.
