Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) on Wednesday 17th December 2025, held a one‐day Match Manipulation Seminar for referees and, concurrently, a Safeguarding Training for SLFA staff, underscoring its pledge to integrity and safety in the game.

The sessions, organised by the Association’s Technical Department, were opened by Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh, who stressed that football depends on integrity, trust and safety. He said the trainings are more than procedural, they are vital to the future and credibility of football in Sierra Leone.

“Football thrives on integrity, trust, and safety. As an Association, we have a responsibility to protect the game from manipulation and to ensure a safe environment for everyone involved. These trainings are not just procedural; they are essential to the future and credibility of football in Sierra Leone,” Bawoh said.

The Match Manipulation Seminar, aimed at referees, was facilitated by Prince Kai Saquee, a FIFA and CAF Match Commissioner and Second Vice President of the SLFA. The course highlighted the importance of fair play and the serious consequences of manipulating matches, in line with FIFA and CAF regulations.

Meanwhile, the Safeguarding Training for SLFA staff was led by Alusine Aiah Kabba, a FIFA‐certified Safeguarding Officer. The session focused on raising awareness and best practices to protect players, officials and all stakeholders, with an emphasis on fostering a safe, inclusive and professional football environment.
