Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Starlink has announced 4.6 million new active connections with high-speed internet in 2025, hitting a total of 9.25 million users in over 155 countries across the globe.

In a world where one-third of humanity remains offline, Starlink says that many more only have basic connectivity, which is often slow, intermittent, and unaffordable.

The company’s 2025 Progress report, titled ‘Expanding Boundaries’, notes that the company is inspired by how people use Starlink to work, learn, explore, and stay connected, often in places where reliable internet was never possible before.

In the report, Starlink says it is committed to closing the digital divide and expanding access to high-speed internet around the world, especially to those in rural and remote areas.

In just five years, the company has connected over 9 million active users across 155+ countries on land, in the air, and at sea across all seven continents.

Starlink is the world’s most advanced satellite constellation, using thousands of satellites in low-Earth orbit to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet from space capable of supporting 4K streaming, online gaming, video calls, online education, and more.

Starlink first launched in 2019, and its service went live in 2020. In 2024, the company will launch its first direct-to-cell service, which will expand to six continents in 2025.
