Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. A heated dispute broke out at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) elective congress on Friday, August 2, as delegates protested against Vice President 2, Alie Badara Tarawalie, presiding over the session in the absence of the SLFA President.
Tarawalie assumed the chair, citing the SLFA statutes as the basis for his authority to lead the congress. However, a group of delegates strongly objected, accusing him of exceeding his mandate. The protest led to a temporary disruption of the proceedings.
Despite the backlash, Tarawalie stood his ground and defended his position by referencing the association’s governing documents.
The standoff underscored deeper tensions within the SLFA leadership as the highly anticipated elective congress continues in Lungi, attracting nationwide attention.
