Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has officially opened the inaugural Government–NGO Dialogue, marking a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between the government and the non-governmental sector.
In his opening address, Dr. Jalloh expressed profound appreciation to government ministers, development partners, and the NGO community for their continued commitment to advancing national development.
He recalled that the event fulfills a key promise made during the launch of the National NGO Policy in October 2023 a milestone that underscores government’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
Highlighting the invaluable role of NGOs, the Vice President commended their contributions across critical sectors such as education, health, agriculture, environmental protection, and gender inclusion. He emphasized that these interventions align closely with the Big Five Agenda and the Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP), both of which focus on sustainable growth and improved livelihoods for Sierra Leoneans.
Dr. Jalloh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for NGOs through policy reforms and sustained dialogue.
He also addressed challenges posed by global aid reductions, urging stronger partnerships and enhanced domestic resilience to lessen dependence on external support.
Introducing the government’s Integrated Approach to Development, he stressed sustainability, local ownership, and capacity-building as essential pillars for lasting progress.
In conclusion, Vice President Jalloh applauded the NGO community for their enduring partnership and reaffirmed government’s resolve to work hand in hand with development actors to achieve shared national goals and promote inclusive growth across Sierra Leone.
