Africa-Press – South-Africa. The body of a woman was found next to an unharmed baby among bushes in Pretorius Street, Laezonia on Friday night.
“Local residents reported hearing gunshots which were followed by a baby’s cries, and it triggered them to investigate what was happening. They made a gruesome discovery of a body of a woman and a baby lying next to her in the bushes,” police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said.
Police and emergency services officials were immediately called to the scene.
“The victim, in her late 20s, had sustained gunshot wounds and she was declared dead,” Masondo added.

The infant was taken to a place of safety.
Erasmia acting station commander, Captain Simon Maredi, assembled a team of detectives to investigate the matter.
“A case of murder is open at Erasmia SAPS for further police investigation,” Masondo added.
