Africa-Press – South-Africa. A pupil died and seven others were injured after being hit by a school bus in Sebokeng on Wednesday morning.
The pupils, from Dinokaneng Secondary School in Vanderbijlpark, were hit by the same bus they were supposed to board.
According to Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Steve Mabona, the pupils were reportedly hit at a pickup point while waiting to board the bus to get to school.
He said the pupils were rushed to a local medical facility.
Mabona said:
Police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“We wish to convey our sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased and the school community at large. We wish the learners affected by this incident a speedy recovery,” said Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
