Africa-Press – South-Africa. A security officer shot and wounded three suspected robbers after a female motorist was robbed of her belongings at a traffic intersection in Alexandra, Johannesburg, on Tuesday morning, according to police.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said the incident happened in London Road, Linbro Park, at around 06:15.
It was reported that three armed assailants accosted the woman while she was at a traffic intersection in a silver Suzuki, and demanded her belongings.
A security officer intervened, but they pointed a firearm at him, Masondo said.
“He retaliated by firing several shots towards the suspects,” Masondo added.
The three suspected robbers are in hospital under police guard.
The woman and the security officer were not physically harmed.
Police have opened an armed robbery case.
