Africa-Press – South-Africa. Two men and a woman were arrested on Friday after they were found in a hijacked vehicle in Northriding, Johannesburg.
Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Xolani Fihla said a silver Toyota Etios was stopped during a crime prevention patrol on Witkoppen Road and Malibongwe Drive.
“Upon searching and inspecting the vehicle, officers noticed that the vehicle was fitted with false registration numbers.
“An inquiry … was established that the vehicle was reported hijacked in Protea, Soweto, on the same day,” said Fihla.
“Further information was received from the complainant … that the female had requested a ride as the vehicle was used as a meter taxi, and [the complainant’s] description fitted the description of the suspects apprehended by the officers,” said Fihla.
The suspects were arrested and were expected to appear in court soon.
