EFF supporters torn on party's 'free movement of African people' stance

Africa-Press – South-Africa. In its manifesto, the EFF wants to eradicate borders between African countries and also have free movement between the continent.

There are mixed feelings from Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters in Limpopo over the party’s “free movement of African people” stance.

In its manifesto, the EFF wants to eradicate borders between African countries and also have free movement between the continent.

The party is hosting its final election rally at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo, on Saturday.

The province is home to the Beitbridge Border Post – South Africa’s busiest entry port.

The people of Limpopo are usually the first to encounter legal or illegal visitors from other African countries.

Robert Mokgathi, an EFF supporter in Limpopo, says he does not have to agree with everything the party stands for to remain a supporter.

“As you can see here, too many foreigners are committing crimes and some of them are selling drugs and doing everything to our children. That is very bad and we as EFF can no longer tolerate those things.”

Meanwhile, another eff supporter from Limpopo, Kgabo Morema, says free movement within Africa will benefit the economy

“Eish, as people from Limpopo we welcome them to come, they are children of God and we cannot desert them.”

Morema added that Africans are united.
