Gauteng EFF Joins MK ActionSA in Rejecting DA Motion

Africa-Press – South-Africa. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng has joined ActionSA and the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in refusing to engage the Democratic Alliance (DA) over its motion of no confidence in Premier Panyaza Lesufi.

The party recently announced its intention to remove Lesufi from his post following a damning report by the public protector against the provincial government.

The report found the Gauteng crime prevention wardens, nicknamed AmaPanyaza, were irregularly established, with no legal mandate to do any police work.

In its letter to the DA, the EFF in Gauteng said the blue party had consistently characterised them as public enemy number one.

The red berets said the DA could not have its bread buttered on both sides, disparaging the party in public while also seeking its support.

On the other side of the aisle, the MK Party’s caucus leader in the Gauteng legislature, Thabang Nkani, said the DA’s motion was opportunistic and Premier Lesufi could not be published for trying to bring the province’s high crime rate down.

“Maybe if you will push to integrate AmaPanyaza into a correct state that they want as a law. As lawmakers, we must support that, we can’t allow our people to be unemployed. We can’t allow crime to go high.”

ActionSA has told the DA the motion is doomed to fail without support from MK and EFF.
