Africa-Press – South-Africa. Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety, Mgcini Tshwaku, said the party in Zone 5, Diepkloof, Soweto, which ended in the assault of three boys and the death of one, was not authorised.
Tshwaku confirmed that the event did not get approval from the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), and there was no police visibility or patrols during or after the party.
The gathering, which ran into the early hours of Thursday morning, saw alleged gangsters rob attendees, leading to a retaliatory attack by the community.
Tshwaku warned that the consequences of such unauthorised events will be serious
“We are warning all communities: don’t block roads or hold unauthorised parties, as they can lead to disaster. We will arrest organisers and open criminal cases against those responsible, including Shaun 101.”
