Africa-Press – South-Africa. The City of Tshwane has announced a 29-hour water shutdown affecting Bronkhorstspruit and surrounding areas this weekend.

The interruption will start at six o’clock Saturday morning and continue until eleven o’clock on Sunday.

The shutdown is part of planned maintenance work with the city installing bulk water meters at the treatment plant to improve efficiency and reliability.

Areas affected include Bronkhorstspruit, Ekangala, Rethabiseng, Zithobeni and parts of Thembisile Hani.

This latest interruption comes as parts of Tshwane continue to face ongoing water supply challenges, including infrastructure strain, maintenance backlogs and periodic system failures.

City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said that residents are urged to store water ahead of time and use it sparingly as the system is brought back online.

“The city of Tshwane sincerely apologises for the inconvenience that may be encountered because of the above-mentioned planned work. Roaming water tankers have been arranged to service the affected areas.”
