Africa-Press – South-Africa. A coalition of more than 40 political, labour, faith-based and community organisations gathered outside the United States consulate in Cape Town.
The group, calling itself “Unite Against Imperialism and Zionism”, gathered for a demonstration targeting what it describes as growing global military aggression, genocide and economic coercion by the United States and Israel.
In a statement, the coalition condemned what it labelled as an illegal war on Iran, apartheid and genocide in Gaza and the West Bank, and Israeli military action in Lebanon.
It also raised concerns about conflicts and humanitarian crises in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cuba and Venezuela, which it linked to foreign intervention and sanctions.
Anti-apartheid activist Ronnie Kasrils was among the hundreds of protesters.
“This is a day of action, and it’s telling [Donald] Trump, and it’s telling Israel and all those war mongers to stand back,” said Kasrils.
