Africa-Press – South-Africa. Ten disgruntled former uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) parliamentarians have lost their high court bid to return to the National Assembly.
On Monday, Judge Kate Savage dismissed their application for an urgent interdict, with costs, saying the applicants had failed to show they have a prima facie right to be reinstated as Members of Parliament (MPs) until such time as their dismissal by the party is reviewed.
The group told the court last week that they had given up their jobs to become MPs and their expulsions as claimed by the party’s leadership were bogus.
However, the court found that they had not established a reasonable apprehension of irreparable harm nor was an alternative remedy available to them.
The applicants were part of a larger group of 18 who were dismissed as MK members and subsequently parliamentarians in July.
