ANC MP arrested more than a month after wife's murder

Africa-Press – South-Africa. ANC Member of Parliament Sibusiso Kula has been arrested for the alleged murder of his 31-year-old wife.

The 34-year-old man was arrested in Klerksdorp on Friday morning and charged with murder, nearly two months after the incident happened.

National police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, confirmed the arrest of a man in the case, though she did not name him. Mathe said the suspect would face a charge of murder.

Mathe said the incident happened on 27 November last year at the the couple’s home in Kanana, North West.

An official with knowledge of the case confirmed Kula had been arrested.

It’s understood Kula allegedly lied to police about what happened to his wife on the night she was stabbed and killed.

Investigations into the matter continue and the man is expected to make his first appearance in the Orkney Magistrate’s Court on 23 January.

While ANC parliamentary chief whip Pemmy Majodina said they were aware of the allegation levelled against the MP, she said the caucus would allow the law to take its course.
