ANC welcomes fraud-accused Pule Mabe's decision to step aside from NEC

Africa-Press – South-Africa. The African National Congress (ANC) has welcomed former spokesperson Pule Mabe’s decision to voluntarily step aside from the party’s national executive committee (NEC).

Mabe announced his decision to step aside on Wednesday after being charged with fraud and money laundering.

He made his first appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday in connection with a R27 million tender that was allegedly awarded irregularly to his company.

Party secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula, has thanked Mabe for adhering to the party’s step-aside policy.

“He has done the right thing to step aside voluntarily, as it would have been expected because the ANC has got a policy that if you appear in court and if you are accused with graft, you need to step aside and face the challenges.”
