Africa-Press – South-Africa. An official probe into the death of South Africa’s ambassador to France Nathi Mthethwa is yet to be concluded, as some government officials urge the public to desist from speculating about the circumstances.
Mthethwa allegedly fell to his death from the 22nd floor of a Paris hotel almost two weeks ago.
The 58-year-old’s body was discovered a day after his wife reported him missing to local authorities.
Despite what’s been reported about Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa’s death, there still appear to be many questions about the moments before his passing.
But Deputy Minister for International Relations Alvin Botes has called on the public to allow an investigation into the matter to run its course.
“Everything else will be concluded hereafter,” the deputy minister said.
“So, the final investigation is yet to be concluded?”
“That is correct, yes,” Botes said.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile, who was recently in France for a working visit, said that Mthethwa did not show any signs of being in distress.
“In fact, a week before, he was in a cultural activity dancing, so it came as a shock to us when we were told that he took his life, so I urged that let the investigation be done so that we get a proper report.”
The Department of International Relations and Cooperation said the outcomes of the report would be communicated in due course.
