Africa-Press – South-Africa. The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed that Bafana Bafana are scheduled to play two international friendly matches during the looming September FIFA break.
Domestic football around the globe will take a back seat as national teams assemble to fine-tune their squads for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November and December.
However, since South Africa failed to qualify for the prestigious tournament, SAFA organised two friendly matches.
Hugo Broos will again be in the dugout for the national team as they take on Sierra Leone and Botswana in home matches, with the date, time and venues to be confirmed in the coming days.
The Belgian boss is set to reveal his 23-man squad at SAFA house on Thursday at 12:00, with many football enthusiasts curious to see who the 70-year-old will call up to the national team.
Bafana recently finished fifth in the Cosafa Cup, with the team being led by assistant coach Helman Mkhalele.
Meanwhile, Bafana were last competitive against Morocco in June as they tasted a 2-1 defeat in their opening Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
South Africa will continue their quest for a ticket to Afcon in Ivory Coast in March, with home and away matches against Liberia.
