Africa-Press – South-Africa. The mayor of Johannesburg, Dada Morero, has promised protesting residents in Westbury and surrounding areas that the city will switch off water in other parts of the city to boost levels at three reservoirs supplying their area.

The reservoirs include Crosby, Brixton and Hursthill respectively.

Morero addressed the community on Thursday afternoon at a community hall in Newlands after residents took to the streets for two days over a lack of water supply.

Morero has added that R800 million had been earmarked to manage water infrastructure challenges.

“In the next two days, we will switch off other areas to try get your levels up so that the water can be supplied this side. The interventions that we will be doing here, we want to make sure we restore water in the next seven days.”
