Africa-Press – South-Africa. Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) structures in KwaZulu-Natal are expected to account for the party’s losses in the recent elections.
The red berets’ share of the province declined significantly from 8% to 2% after the polls.
On Friday, provincial party leaders will account to the central command team at a meeting in Durban.
The EFF is having its first central command team meeting since the departure of its former deputy president – Floyd Shivambu – who has now joined the uMkhonto Wesizwe Party.
Shivambu was deployed in the province in the lead-up to the polls, but after abruptly exiting the party he is no longer compelled to answer for the bad performance.
Party Secretary-General Marshall Dlamini says a breakdown of what went wrong is vital.
“All members of the central command team are deployed all over the province led by the officials, to come and listen to our own members on what they want to propose, and what were the challenges and issues so that we confront them and provide a way forward.”
In addition, the central command will gather at its branches on Saturday to strengthen its structures.
