EFF’s Maotwe reveals party on track to unseat ANC in Mpumalanga

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Maotwe, the convener of EFF deployees in Mpumalanga, told Eyewitness News that work is being done to bring the ANC below the 50% mark.

When Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema arrived at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo on Saturday, some party supporters were slowly making their way into the venue.

Malema was expected to give his organisation a line of march with the party’s final Tshela Thupa rally ahead of Wednesday’s general polls.

Meanwhile, EFF Treasurer General Omphile Maotwe told Eyewitness News the party is on track to unseat the African National Congress (ANC) in Mpumalanga. The EFF is the main opposition in the province, having secured 12% of the votes.

Maotwe is the convener of EFF deployees in the province, east of Gauteng. She said work is being done to bring the ANC below the 50% mark.

Maotwe said while she recognises that the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party is likely to change the fortunes of some political parties, she insists the red berets will remain unscathed.

“The EFF is going to grow. Our growth is going to be exponential, it’s going to grow more than any other party in Mpumalanga.”

Eyewitness News understands the continuous rivalry between the ANC and EFF has also been playing out behind the scenes, with debates raging over which party leader will be the last to address their supporters.
