Africa-Press – South-Africa. With the ANC’s provincial executive committee campaigning at several churches, Lesufi said religious organisations have been the ANC’s backbone for years.

African National Congress (ANC) chairperson in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi said it is important for the party to maintain relations with religious organisations in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.

Lesufi attended a service at the Anglican Church in Kagiso on Sunday alongside the party’s provincial leadership.With the ANC’s provincial executive committee campaigning at several churches, Lesufi said religious organisations have been the ANC’s backbone for years.

“The ANC was born in a church and the ANC is an institution that embraces all religious beliefs. So the importance of this is to ensure that we remain in touch with those that we can communicate with, send our messages so that they can understand our presence.”
