Sarel Erwee struck 132 runs off 141 balls for the Dolphins in the away CSA 4-Day series match against Knights at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
The Dolphins opener was well supported by an unbeaten half century from Khaya Zondo (55*) and Grant Roelofsen, who fell one run short of a half-century, trapped lbw by Monde Maqunqu with 49 runs.
The visitors continued from their 125-run lead from day two and declared on 336/6, setting the target to 425 runs for the hosts.
Knights are currently on 84/2 after the early departure of Matthew Kleinveldt and Isaac Dikgale.
