Africa-Press – South-Africa. Power utility Eskom says that load shedding will be reduced to stage 2 on Tuesday (12 December) before moving back to stage 3 tomorrow.
The power utility previously said that load shedding would remain at stage 3 load shedding until 16:00 on Thursday.
However, Eskom said due to sustained generation capacity improvement and adequate emergency reserves, load shedding will be reduced to stage 2 from 07:00 today until 16:00.
Thereafter, Stage 3 load shedding will be implemented, as previously communicated, from 16:00 today until 16:00 on Thursday.
On Monday (11 December), Eskom noted that unplanned outages were at 12,889MW, whilst planned maintenance stands at 7,115MW of generation capacity, while an additional 1,000 MW – or one stage of load shedding – was expected to return to service from Monday until Thursday.
Eskom said it would continue monitoring the power system closely and would communicate should any significant changes occur.
