Africa-Press – South-Africa. Kenya’s Felix Masai and Namibia’s Lavinia Haitope have secured top honours at the Two Oceans Marathon race weekend, delivering dominant performances along Cape Town’s iconic coastal route.

The 21.1-kilometre race commenced in the early hours of Sunday morning, with the elite field departing the start line at 6:00 AM.

Masai delivered an outstanding performance to claim the overall title, crossing the finish line in an impressive 1 hour, 3 minutes, and 17 seconds.

In the women’s category, Lavinia Haitope took first place, clocking a winning time of 1 hour, 14 minutes, and 36 seconds.

Beyond the podium finishes, the event remains a critical fixture for long-distance athletes. Stuart Mann, a member of the Two Oceans Marathon board, noted that the weekend serves as vital preparation for the upcoming Comrades Marathon.

“Obviously, it’s a lovely route, it’s a beautiful route… quite a few people running both races. There’s actually a substantial amount of people running the half-marathon. Obviously, there’s a lot of Comrades runners; this is a great training weekend.”

With the Two Oceans weekend concluding, the South African running community now shifts its focus toward the next major event on the calendar. The Cape Town Marathon is scheduled to take place next month, promising another high-profile gathering of local and international talent.
