Africa-Press – South-Africa. A former police officer and his alleged accomplice were arrested in George on charges of fraud after they were found to be using cloned petrol cards.

They were arrested on Saturday, said Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani.

“Former constable Khuezi Gift Tshuku, 29, and Zixolisile Skade, 25, were arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team together with George SAPS’ Crime Prevention Unit following an intensive investigation into the duo’s criminal activities at a petrol station in George on Saturday,” said Hani.

They were found in possession of canisters with a capacity of 15 to 25 litres containing fuel, as well as cloned cards with Western Cape government fleet card information on the magnetic strip.

The accused appeared briefly in the George Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

They are expected to be back in court on 14 March 2022.

“[The] investigation into the matter is ongoing and more arrests are imminent,” said Hani.
