Africa-Press – South-Africa. Free State police arrested four suspects following the grim discovery of the decomposing body of a 60-year-old woman in the backyard of a home in Bergman.
This discovery followed the arrest of a 39-year-old Lesotho citizen.
Police – working with Crime Intelligence – received a tip-off and headed to Bergman, Mangaung where the suspect was arrested.
“His arrest led to the discovery of a decomposing body buried in a shallow grave inside a shack at the back of an RDP house.
“Forensic experts were summoned to the scene, and under a concrete slab and in a shallow grave, the body of a 60-year-old woman was discovered,” Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli said in a statement on Wednesday.

Kareli further clarified that the woman’s age was an estimation by the forensic team.
Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of three more suspects, including a 54-year-old woman.
The four suspects aged between 30 and 54 were arrested for murder and are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon.
“Post-mortem results will enable the investigation team to determine the cause of death and will also help with the positive identification of the deceased,” Kareli added.
Police added that the owner of the house was yet to be confirmed.
“We want to first confirm if the body found is that of the owner of the said house where the shallow grave was found.
“After the post-mortem and confirmation by family members, we will surely confirm if the body is that of the house owner,” Kareli concluded.
