Africa-Press – South-Africa. The Free State High Court, sitting in Virginia, sentenced a 37-year-old serial killer and rapist to four life terms behind bars on Thursday after he was found guilty of raping and murdering three women.
Benedict Tshediso Rantsheuoa had previously been accused of the attempted murder of one of the women, according to police spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng.
Thabong police found the body of his first two victims – women aged 36 and 39 – in February 2018, near to a cemetery in Thubelisha.
The women were half naked, had suffered multiple injuries to their eyes, and “their intestines were protruding from their stomachs and hanged on a nearby wire”.
The third victim, 44, was found in a similar state in April 2019 – five months after she had opened an attempted murder and assault case against Rantsheuoa.
Rantsheuoa was acquitted of the attempted murder and assault in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court.
Acting Lejweleputswa district commissioner, Brigadier Mzondi Mojafi, applauded the investigating officer for “a thorough investigation” and for his dedication.
“We hope this will send a strong message to people abusing women,” Mojafi said.
