Gwarube warns matrics that cheating in final exams will not be tolerated

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube has issued a stern warning to matriculants ahead of the National Senior Certificate examinations on Monday.

On Sunday, Gwarube briefed the media on her department’s readiness, contingency plans and strategies to ensure a smooth examination process for both the NSC and Independent Examination Board exams.

The minister emphasised that the department would not tolerate any form of cheating and that authorities would be closely monitoring the exam process.

“Learners must take personal accountability, they need to pledge that they are not going to be cheating. This has a profound impact on your future if you have found to be cheating and we are not going to tolerate that. We are going to be watching the process hawkishly. We have systems in place to make sure that each and every single paper has a particular security marker.”

Gwarube reiterated the department’s commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent examination process, promising that strict measures had been put in place to uphold the integrity of the exams.
