Africa-Press – South-Africa. Joburg Mayor Dada Morero says water supply is improving, but challenges remain.
Rand Water continues pumping while carefully balancing supply between Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Ekurhuleni to ensure everyone gets water.
The City has introduced nighttime water throttling after some residents harvested water, draining reservoirs faster than expected.
Despite protests on the streets this morning, Morero says progress is underway, and more households are starting to receive water.
“What they had to do was to balance Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Ekurhuleni; that forced the pumping to be done at a particular technique so we can allow everybody to have water. That reservoir affected Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, and Joburg, but we think we are now improving and we’re getting feedback from customers as and when they are beginning to get water.”
