Africa-Press – South-Africa. Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has unveiled plans to restructure his mayoral committee by rotating members of his executive team across all ten portfolios.
This means that members of his Cabinet will be reassigned to different roles within the committee.
The rotation of executive members was one of the key announcements made by the mayor during his State of the City address on Wednesday.
With just a year remaining until the next local government elections, Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has decided to swap around the members of his mayoral committee and reassign their portfolios.
Morero said that the rotation of positions aims to place members in positions that align with their strengths, in an effort to accelerate service delivery.
“It’s not a reshuffle. It’s a rotation. If it was a reshuffle, it would have meant that others are going to be removed. We will not lose any form of institutional memory because the same team has been in the mayoral committee since I became mayor.”
While Morero’s term of office will come to an end next year, he doesn’t believe the swapping around of Cabinet positions will destabilise service delivery.
