Africa-Press – South-Africa. A 6-year-old girl has died while her older sister, 8, was found naked and bruised after they went missing in March.
“On 1 March 2022, two young girls aged 6 and 8 were reported missing after they left home to play. Yesterday [Monday] morning at 10:00, an 8-year-old girl was brought home by some neighbours who reported that she arrived at their place of residence naked and with bruises,” KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala told News24 on Tuesday.
According to police, the older girl reported that her younger sibling was strangled by an unknown male who threw her into the Inanda Dam. Police divers from the search and rescue unit along with metro police search and rescue retrieved the body.

Non-profit organisation (NPO) Women for Change, which advocates for the protection of the constitutional rights of women and children in South Africa, said in a statement that a man, 34, believed to be the suspect, allegedly kept the two sisters hostage and sexually assaulted them.
According to the NPO, he was allegedly found hanging “from a tree in the bush, naked”.
When probed on the NPO’s allegations, Gwala confirmed that an inquest docket was being investigated by the Inanda police.
“It is alleged that on 9 March 2022 at 11:45, the body of a 34-year-old man was found hanging inside the house at Ekuphakameni area in Inanda. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” Gwala said.
