Africa-Press – South-Africa. The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government said it will not back down on its fight against undocumented foreign nationals, saying it wants to put an end to criminality.
On Tuesday, government officials targeted a shopping centre in Richards Bay, northern KZN.
The operation found that several undocumented foreign nationals are running stores that are not in line with standard regulations.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli said the ongoing operations looking into the issue of illegal migrants are just a promise he made to the people of KwaZulu-Natal when campaigning for the top post.
“It is an ongoing operation which we started when we were given the opportunity to lead the province of KwaZulu-Natal. When you come to South Africa without a permit, you must know that it is illegal, you’ll be arrested – that is the intention for us to do these operations.”
On Thursday morning, the premier and various law enforcement authorities will hit an undisclosed location to raid more shops.
At the same time, other operations will focus on illegal truck drivers with no proper documentation.
Warehouses and other business industries will also be raided.
