KZN Hawks Boss Snubs Meeting Over Security Concerns

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Embattled KZN Hawks boss, Leletja Senona, has declined to meet with the unit’s acting head, Lieutenant-General Siphesihle Nkosi.

EWN understands that the reasons provided by Senona may relate to aspects around his safety.

This comes after it emerged on Sunday that Senona has gone into hiding, fearing for his life after testifying before the Madlanga Commission of inquiry last week.

On Saturday, he was ordered to leave his office at the KZN police headquarters in Durban after allegedly breaching protocol.

Last weekend, embattled KZN Hawks boss Lesetja Senona allegedly didn’t sign the register to enter KZN police headquarters and also attempted to leave with his state laptop and certain documents before being instructed to leave everything behind.

KZN police alluded to the possible risk of the leakage or destruction of information, given that Senona is one of five senior-ranking officers who are the subject of an ongoing police investigation, after being named in the Madlanga Commission’s three-month interim report.

EWN understands Senona was meant to continue with a disciplinary hearing into the Esmael Nangy matter at the head office in Pretoria this week.

Nangy, an alleged Mozambican kidnapping kingpin, was arrested by members of Senona’s team in late 2024, but surprisingly, the charges against Nangy, accused of kidnapping a KZN businessman at the time, never stuck.

Nangy and Senona’s close associate, criminally accused tender tycoon, Vusimuzi “cat” Matlala – lived in the same luxury midstream estate in Centurion.
