Africa-Press – South-Africa. KwaZulu-Natal National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) head Elaine Harrison has rejected claims that politically motivated killings ended before 1994.
It’s alleged that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu justified the disbandment of the KZN political killings task team by arguing that such murders ceased with the advent of democracy.
These allegations were raised earlier this week at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry by National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola.
Harrison, however, told the commission she did not agree that political killings were a thing of the past.
“It’s incorrect that political killings happened before 1994. There were political killings in 2019.” said Harrison.
