KZN Premier Ntuli calls on communities to back CPFs in fighting crime in province

Africa-Press – South-Africa. KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has called on communities to reinforce community policing forums (CPFs) in order to fight the alarming crime in the province.

This comes after yet another mass killing, where eight people were shot and killed by suspected criminals in Umlazi, south of Durban, on Friday night.

The premier visited the scene on Saturday, where he met community members who raised their concerns about rampant crime in the area.

Ntuli has urged communities to play a leading role in the fight against crime.

“Community policing, let’s mobilise each and every society in the province to understand that if we don’t stand together, this is going to continue and we don’t know who is going to be the next victim.”

He added that concerned communities had the ability to put an end to crime.

“So our worry must trigger action from all of us in the society to stand up and say in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, no one must have an illegal gun, ammunition or commit crime.”
