Africa-Press – South-Africa. A 43-year-old Limpopo businessman was killed and his friend was wounded in a shooting in Motetema, northeast of Groblersdal, over the weekend.
Aubrey Maponya and his friend were traveling in a white Toyota Hilux when gunmen in a white Mercedes-Benz opened fire on them on Saturday afternoon, according to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
It is alleged that the gunmen followed them.
They were rushed to hospital but Maponya was declared dead by the time they arrived.
“His friend was transferred to another hospital for medical attention. The motive of the attack is not known, but police investigations continue,” Ledwaba added.
Cases of murder and attempted murder were opened.
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident.
