Africa-Press – South-Africa. The Hawks’ asset forfeiture team and the National Prosecuting Authority have secured a preservation order allowing them to attach assets worth R4 million that were seized from a game farm in Limpopo during a massive drug dealing investigation.
The order was obtained on 22 April from the Limpopo High Court in Polokwane, the Hawks said in a statement.
The matter dates back to June 2020 when Marble Hall police discovered an allegedly clandestine drug laboratory on Pieon Game Farm.
At the time, two people were arrested and drugs worth more than R10 million as well as firearms were seized, the Hawks said.
During the team’s investigation, they also seized various vehicles, including a Mercedes-Benz truck, an Isuzu truck, a Hyundai Elantra, a Mitsubishi Pajero, a Bedford truck, a Great Wall Motors truck, a Toyota Hilux, trailers and a Perkins generator, Hawks spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke said.
The court has given the Hawks’ asset forfeiture team the authority to preserve the assets, including the game farm, until the outcome of forfeiture proceedings.
