Limpopo Premier Launches Road Safety Drive After Crash

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba says the province will embark on a road safety campaign to address the rising number of fatal accidents on its roads.

This follows the death of 12 church congregants who were involved in a multi-vehicle crash on the R81 yesterday.

A taxi carrying the passengers – who were returning from a church service – collided with two trucks on the route, resulting in the tragedy.

During a media briefing today, Ramathuba emphasised the need for practical solutions:

“Let’s come up with our own way and our own campaigns, now that we know where the problem is. This means strengthening awareness. I always say, before you start your car, you must ask yourself: is my car in good condition? And are you in good condition? Because it’s one thing to take your car for service, to get all the brakes and everything done.”
