Africa-Press – South-Africa. The Democratic A’s Dean Macpherson says former party leader John Steenhuisen leaves behind a legacy of helping bring the party into national government.
Steenhuisen has bowed out as DA leader after deciding not to seek re-election at the party’s federal congress taking place in Midrand this weekend.
He will now focus solely on his role as Minister of Agriculture.
Macpherson says Steenhuisen led the party with dignity and respect during his two terms.
“John’s greatest legacy that he leaves behind is that our party is strong, more unified, more diverse, and it is more successful than it has ever been before. He also leaves behind a new generation of leaders. John has actively groomed, mentored, and made spaces for young people in this party.”
