Madlanga Commission Urged to Summon Daphney Manamela

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Lawyers representing the family of Hillary Gardee have requested that the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry urgently summon suspended Mpumalanga Police Commissioner, Daphney Manamela, to testify under oath.

The formal request follows an explosive media briefing held by Manamela on Sunday, during which she made several startling claims regarding the conduct of the provincial police force.

During her briefing, Manamela levelled serious allegations against senior South African Police Service (SAPS) officers in Mpumalanga.

She cited specific instances of interference, obstruction of justice, and general misconduct regarding a murder investigation linked to high-ranking officials. Most notably, the suspended Commissioner claimed that the police have intentionally blocked efforts to apprehend a key suspect in the murder investigation.

Hillary Gardee, the daughter of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Deputy President Godrich Gardee, was shot and killed in 2022.

The family’s legal team believes that Manamela’s recent public statements provide critical information that must be scrutinised under oath.

By summoning the Manamela, the commission aims to determine the validity of these claims and ensure that any internal sabotage within the SAPS is identified and addressed to provide justice for the Gardee family.
