Malema says load reduction ‘as bad’ a load shedding

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema said Eskom does not deserve any praise for ending load shedding, as many communities continue to experience rolling power cuts.

Load reduction refers to power supply interruptions implemented by municipalities, often targeting densely populated communities.

Similar to load shedding, these electricity cuts see residents in heavily populated areas cut off from electricity for at least two hours a day.

Speaking at the party’s plenum in Boksburg, Malema emphasised that power cuts are far from being a thing of the past.

“It is a lie that we must dispel now that load shedding has ended in South Africa – it has simply been given another name called load reduction and it is as bad as load shedding. We cannot as leaders of society and as the media participate in a state-sponsored lie that South Africa has recovered from the electricity crisis.”
