Man arrested for murder of police sergeant after six months in hiding

Africa-Press – South-Africa. After almost six months in hiding, a man was arrested in Mpumalanga on Saturday in connection with the murder of 37-year-old police officer, Sergeant Enock Themba Nsimba.

Nsimba, who was stationed at the Kabokweni Visible Policing Unit, was killed on 25 March during a shootout with 15 gunmen who had allegedly gathered at a guesthouse to plan a robbery.

The gunmen opened fire when they saw the police approaching.

Police arrested six people in connection with the shooting and confiscated firearms and cars.

Hawks arrest man for Gauteng police officers’ murder

Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said the man who was arrested on Saturday had gone into hiding after the murder.

Mdhluli said:

The man is expected to appear in the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a murder charge.

The Hawks are investigating the case.

The other accused are expected to appear in court on 27 September, for the continuation of their bail application.
