Africa-Press – South-Africa. The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has said it’s a fact that former president Jacob Zuma is the most successful head of state the country has ever had.
It said his leadership represented nine years of progress which can be borne out by statistical data.
During the debate on the State of the Nation Address (SONA), the MK Party’s parliamentary leader John Hlophe said it was pointless to debate President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address because he’s never lived up to any of the commitments he’s made.
Hlophe dedicated a significant part of his speech to espousing the virtues of the presidency of his party’s leader Zuma who was present in the public gallery on Tuesday, alongside his new secretary general Floyd Shivambu.
Hlophe said the Government of National Unity (GNU) is directionless and doesn’t have a common vision or one at all.
Instead, Hlophe has focused on Zuma’s presidency.
“President Zuma’s nine years as head of state and president of our country was not just nine wasted years. But was nine years of progress, defined by increasing life expectancy, access to education and massive infrastructural progress,” said Hlophe.
He added that South Africa should not bow to the bullying tactics of the United States and should instead deepen ties with its BRICS partners.
He’s also criticised the government for not introducing a basic income grant despite increasing poverty.
